Can you imagine juggling multiple roles while trying to follow your passion? This episode uncovers my personal journey as I navigated the end of the third quarter of 2024 at Mapcast Media. Despite facing the time crunch that halted the launch of a new website, successfully promoting the "Start Your Podcast" program around the holiday season was a big win. I also share the unique challenge and necessity of taking on a 15-hour-a-week marketing role to diversify revenue streams, and how this impacted my focus on other projects.

Big changes are on the horizon as I restructure my business, phasing out one-on-one client work and editing services to focus on amplifying voices through podcasts. Discover the introduction of two innovative offerings: a VIP day dedicated to intensive podcast planning and an extensive eight-week support program. Looking forward, I outline plans for a brief rest period in October and November and set the stage for an exciting new program launch in January. Amidst these transitions, the importance of maintaining physical well-being remains a top priority. Tune in for an intimate reflection on balancing growth, stability, and well-being.

Donna Eade:

You're listening to the Mindset in Action podcast, the place to be to grow and streamline your business. I'm your host, donna Eade. Let's jump into the show. If you listen to your body when it whispers, you won't have to hear it scream Cherokee proverb. Welcome back to the podcast.

Donna Eade:

Everybody, I am so glad to have you here with me today, and today we're going to be talking about the end of a quarter. It is the end of September. Well, it's now October, but you know it's the end of the quarter. We are going into our final quarter of 2024. Of the quarter, we are going into our final quarter of 2024. I'm not quite sure where the year's gone.

Donna Eade:

Honestly, if you did not listen, on Monday I did an episode all about the testing that I have had done recently and why I think it's important that we do this testing for ourselves, especially as business owners, especially as parents, especially as women of a certain age. So you can go back and listen to that one. I went through the tests that I've had done, some of the results that came out of it and why I think it's kind of important for us to know that stuff. So I will leave a link in the show notes for you, or you can just go back and listen to episode 271. So today we're looking back at my goals for the last quarter. What did I get done, what didn't I get done and what I'm going to be doing in this next quarter. So I actually think this episode will be a little bit shorter than my usual episodes to make up for the fact that Mondays was a little bit longer than my normal Monday episodes. So let's jump into it. So, for quarter three, what I was looking at doing and I did actually put it up on my wall on a post-it note, like I said I would, so that I could see it Did it help me to move the needle on these goals? I would say no, it didn't, because I don't think I paid enough attention to it in all honesty.

Donna Eade:

So, looking at it, I had three. I had two main goals. I wanted to create a new website for the business side of things. So instead of having everything going through not everything, everything would still stay on my Donateecom website. But I wanted to create one that was called Mapcast Media, which is my company name, and have some different things on there and some perks for my clients and things. But I didn't get around to doing that. It's quite a big job to create a brand new website, although they are fairly easy to do, especially on the system that I use, which is always linked in the comments down below FEA Create. If you want to have a look at it, it's my all-in-one platform that does everything. Yeah, I didn't get round to that, and that is because of something that I will come on and tell you all about in a second. The other thing that I wanted to do in the last quarter was the promotion for my launch, and I have succeeded in doing that.

Donna Eade:

At the time you're listening to this, the cart is now closed. You cannot get in to the Start your Podcast program now until the end of the year when I open up again for January. So if you want to be on the list for that time, make sure you get on to the podcast subscription list. You can do that from any of the blog posts. There is a pop-up that comes up for you to sign up for it. Or if you go to any of the Thursday episodes this episode if you are listening on the website, then you can go into the show notes there and you can sign up to get notifications and then you'll be on my list so you'll know when I next open the doors. But my thing is, if anybody joins from sort of the beginning because I start at the beginning of the month if you start in at the beginning of November, then you're not due to finish until the beginning of January. And then there's Christmas and nobody's going to be working over Christmas. So I don't want to put people in a situation where they're not really able to do the work because of the family commitments that we all have around that time. December's just a bit of a messy month for us to sort of sit there and actually finish something up like that. So I don't do the program over Christmas, so we'll be starting again in January.

Donna Eade:

However, I did get the promotion done. I was able to do ads. I can do a detailed breakdown of my Facebook ads. If anybody is interested in sort of hearing what I did, how much I paid, what the results were, then please let me know. I am happy to do an episode on Facebook ads and the results that that gave me and break down my entire launch. If that is what you would like, I could also do an episode on that. So let me know. You can go straight under this episode and text me. Use the text me feature that would be a great way to use that feature and just let me know that you want those episodes and I will do them.

Donna Eade:

So on to the biggest change that has happened this month, which is definitely one of the reasons why the website didn't happen. So I have taken on a 15 hour a week marketing role and I have spoken many, many times before about my desire for us to all have multiple streams of revenue coming in, because we don't want to ever stick all our eggs in one basket, because anybody who went through the pandemic as a business owner knows how dangerous that can be. So for me, I am in a situation where I'm still very early days in my business. So those of you who have been long time listeners know that I actually had a different business back in 2020 and that this business has evolved over the last sort of 12 to 18 months. So because I was started a business in 2020, that didn't really make me any money, and then I've changed it to a new business, that again is you've got to build these things up.

Donna Eade:

I mean, we see it all the time on the big creators, big business entrepreneurs that you know, oh so-and-so did my program and then they made 100,000 in their first launch. Well, you know, I think that's like the cream of the crop, the outliers, not the general gist of everybody who goes through their programs, when you see the fact that they can have thousands and thousands of students going through their program, yet their testimonials tend to always be from the same people. So I would say they are the outliers. And yes, I know we all want to see the good stuff, we want to promote the good stuff, we want to promote those people that are succeeding in what we are teaching. However, not everything works for everybody and not everything works instantly for everybody. So, for me, I'm in that situation where I'm early doors in my business and I think back to when I had a business like before.

Donna Eade:

Online business was a thing and it's a slow grower. It's not something that happens instantly and I think the internet makes us feel like it can be instant, and of course it can be for some people, but for the majority of us it's not. It's something that happens instantly and I think the internet makes us feel like it can be instant, and of course it can be for some people, but for the majority of us it's not. It's something that grows over time. So I have decided to take on. This role is 15 hours a week. As I said, it is a marketing role, so doing lots of social media stuff and working on the podcast that the company has, on the podcast that the company has. So I am doing that, which is allowing me still hours to do my business.

Donna Eade:

And you know, I think a lot of people shy away from saying that they have a quote unquote day job alongside their business because they think it makes them look, you know, less professional, less successful. All of the lesses, anything you want to throw in there yourself, I'm sure you've got your own mindset, things around it, but for me, I really want to show up authentically to you guys. I don't ever want to sugarcoat things and make you believe that I am something that I'm not. I never want you to sort of be under any illusion of who I am. I have always said that one of the reasons why I do this podcast is because I'm in the trenches with you, I'm learning, I'm digesting, I'm getting the stuff together. I have so many people that say, donna, it's all there. You've just got to get the numbers coming through. You've just got to get this, and to some degree that is true, but there is always things to learn and improve on.

Donna Eade:

So, whilst I'm not looking to stop my business at all, that is not what is happening. I want to continue to do my business because I still have that core purpose that I want to help people and I want to help people amplify their voices and I want these fantastic business owners that I know and love to be able to get more people to hear about their stuff. That is still my mission, you know, taking on this role to relieve some of the financial strain so that I can focus on my business with joy and that helpful nature rather than any sort of desperation or worry that I have had in the past. So that's what I'm doing. So I now have 15 hours less a week to do my business, which means that I need to pull it in and focus more. So I've decided that, going forward, I'm no longer going to offer one on one opportunities, so I have some one to one clients at the moment that I'm working with that I will finish up with, and then no more one to one.

Donna Eade:

Clients. In that way, you can still get a VIP day with me. Clients, in that way, you can still get a VIP day with me. So if you want to sit down, hash out what your podcast will look like, what you will want to put out, what episodes, how that's going to look, we can go over the different softwares that you would use, get it all mapped out, planned out and everything like that, and then, if you wanted to buy my recording module and my editing module, you could do that, so we could do that as a VIP day. Or you can come and join me for my eight week program, which means you get a lot of touch points with me in that Because I offer Voxer access to me for business hours so you are able to contact me daily if you are stuck and need help. And then we have some live calls as well that you can come to for accountability and check-ins and technical support. So you get a lot of help with me, from me through my program.

Donna Eade:

So those are the two things that I'm really offering right now, and I'm just taking the one to one off the table, because a lot of that one to one work was actually me doing a lot of the work and I just don't have that time available to be able to do that anymore. I'm also not going to be taking on any more editing clients. So those that I already edit for I will continue to service, but I won't be taking on any more editing for people either. So that is where I am at. That is why I haven't met all my goals for quarter three, because I've obviously been getting my head around this new role, which some of you may have seen if you're connected with me on LinkedIn. Seen it, which some of you may have seen if you're connected with me on LinkedIn. Seen it. But you will see it go on to my LinkedIn profile this week as well.

Donna Eade:

So I just wanted to kind of let you guys know what was going on before I put it up there, because I didn't want anybody going. Oh my god, is she stopping her business? No, I'm absolutely not stopping my business. I love what I do, I love sharing, I love putting the podcast out, I love helping other people start their podcast. So, absolutely not going anywhere. But I am taking on a role that is going to give me some stability of income so that I can focus on my business from that more positive outlook rather than a desperate you know I need to make this work kind of thing. Knowing that I've got that fallback is just going to allow me to come at it from a place that is more authentic for me and feels better. So that is what I am doing.

Donna Eade:

Going forward into the last quarter of the year, what am I going to look at doing? So I'm obviously going to be servicing the wonderful clients that have come into my program for the next eight weeks, so we're going to be working together on getting their podcasts out into the world, and that starts on Monday. So I'm very excited about that. And then what is going to happen is I am going to take a little bit of a rest in October and November in terms of other business work. I'm going to do the podcast, I'm going to service my clients, but I'm not really going to be doing much more than that. Then I am looking at doing another launch at the end of the year.

Donna Eade:

So in the beginning of December you will start hearing about the program again as I get ready to welcome new students in for the 1st of January. It won't be the 1st of January, because that would be a ridiculous day to start. But let me just check the calendar. We will be starting on the 6th. The 6th of January is when the next program will start. So I will be doing something just before Christmas and in between Christmas and New Year, talking about that, getting that ready and set up for the new year. So that is all I'm going to put on my plate for the next three months because I'm still getting to grips with the new role and having to sort of focus over there on learning lots of new things within the business that I'm working in, as well as implementing things that they need implementation. So I am going to be working on that.

Donna Eade:

So for me, it is just servicing the clients that I've got, taking a bit of a rest in terms of the amount of work that I do in October and November and then coming back in December for that launch for January. So that is what I am planning to do. Also, if you listen to Monday, you will know that I am working a lot on my physical well-being. So that in turn, is going to, you know, enjoy that rest period that we're going to go through as I work with these students and focus on them and the podcast alone, rather than trying to do all the things which sometimes we have to stop and just listen to what our body is telling us and listen and take note and do and do what it needs us to do. So that is what I'm going to be focusing on for the next three months.

Donna Eade:

Let me know what you're going to be doing for the next three months. Don't forget to text me. You can text me and let me know what you're doing for the next three months. Tell me your goals. Tell me if you would like me to do an episode on the Facebook ads and the launch debrief. I'm absolutely happy to do that for you. I will be back next week with a special guest. I believe that it's Janine's episode that is coming out next week. So, if you didn't hear, a few weeks ago I was on Janine's podcast. I will put a link to that in the show notes of this episode for you so you can go and listen to that. Well, we talked about podcasting and the how's, why's, wherefore's, why would you want to do it and how can you do it. Well, and this next week she's coming on my podcast, so we're going to be talking about her expertise. So come and join us for that next week and I will see you very soon. Bye for now.
